  1. The Bi-Weekly British Backtrack – The Gizmondo

No, it's not a review of the website Gizmodo, and it's not a typo. This is a review of the Gizmondo, the bonkers handheld from Tiger Telematics in March 2005.

The electronics design was done by Plextek Limited and the industrial design by Rick Dickinson, but that is not the name most commonly heard in conjunction with the Gizmondo, that dubious honour would go to Stefan Eriksson, but more on him later.

The Gizmondo handheld console had a similar form factor to the Gameboy ...

  2. The Bi-Weekly British Backtrack – Commando Comics

Hello fellow nerdlingers, this particular Backtrack is focusing on something slightly different than normal, but is both something retro and British, and also something that is still current and available today. We’re going to look at comic books.

  4. The Memory Formula

Having played video games for 2 decades now, I feel as though I have a certain learned authority that I have acquired over years of playing both the real winners, and true stinkers. It seems that as games as a medium evolve, their potential to inspire a certain kind of awe grows, while their limitless potential to truly suck rocks never diminishes. A classic title that excelled, still does today and you can go back and replay it, and some of that old nostalgic feeling envelopes you in a warm blanket ...
  5. The Bi-Weekly British Backtrack - What Is Retro?

Now then, I’ve got a can here with something in it. I’m going to open it up and see what’s inside.

    Hmm, it’s full of worms.

So, now I just opened a can of worms it’s time to open another one but this one is slightly different, this one is reviving an age old debate. The debate of What is retro?

First off, we need to take back a couple of terms, we’re taking back “retro” and we’re taking back “classic.” If you think about an analogy to represent the 2 ...
