Default Space Invaders - My First Unity Game

    http://www.dropbox.com/s/9tefvu9f1z2...aders.zip?dl=0

I'm getting my feet wet making games in Unity and I wrote a pretty close looking clone of Space Invaders. I included both a PC version and a Android version in the zip file. It closely mimics the Arcade version with the backdrop, including Attract mode. I built it for me basically.

Dropbox doesn't seem to let you download directly. It takes you to the page and I normally see a download button on the upper right.

    Controls: (Keyboard)
    1 - Start a 1 player game
    2 - Start a 2 player game
    3 - Add coins
Left and Right Arrows - Move
    Space Bar - Fire
    P - Pause
    Tab - Cycle Backdrops

On a gamePad: Pause (start), Credit (select), 1Player (Left Trigger), 2 Players (Right Trigger). Fire, Backdrop (buttons). Assuming your gamepad maps them out the same of course. You can always change them for the PC version.

The Android version has on screen controls.

There is no install program. Just put the PC version in a folder somewhere and click on the Space Invaders.exe file.

Enjoy and feel free to comment...good or bad.

    I'll give it a try.

Just an idea but it might be an idea to mimic MAME controls for PC.
    5 - Add coins
L CTRL - Fire (Space is a bad fire button to use)
Before you insult a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you insult him, you'll be a mile away, and have his shoes.

Interesting, the version of MAME I used for reference had the fire button wired to the L CTRL. I've always used the space bar for fire since my first computer back in the day (TRS-80 Model I). I eventually got tired of pressing the space bar in MAME and it not working. Some of my MAME installs have 3&4 for coin and others 5& I guess 6. For some reason, I default to 3&4 as that's what it was in MAME originally.

In any case, you can change the controls on the PC version.

So what's the thinking on the L CTRL being better?

Space is generally the least responsive key and slower to spring back.

Not too bad on Space Invaders but for rapid fire games it's no good.
