Default The What is Retro debate...My thoughts.

I'm sitting here listening to Roundup #132 and Scott mentioned this topic during an interview. What is retro? So I had a thought that I would like to share.

I think the answer is this: It is subjective. So perhaps it's time to subdivide it. For example. "The Retro 8 Era" for 8 bit computers and consoles. Then Retro 16, Retro 32.....and eventually sometime in the future, Retro 4k.

I think the solution is that simple. So feel free to call this idea your own and allow it to catch on.

Or perhaps it just prompts someone to come up with a better idea.

    I know I don't really post, but I do always listen...every month.

    Rock on!

Comics use the term Silver and Golden age to determine particular eras. As of right now, I call the different time periods Pre-Atari, Atari, 8-Bit, 16-Bit, 32-Bit, DVD, and Modern era.

As time marches on, they will all be lumped together as one...including the 4k stuff now.
