Default Been thinking about dusting my DS off

I was talking with a friend the other day and it occurred to me it has been years since I touched my DS. I use my 3ds here and there, mostly on trips but it is certainly underused. But my DS that I used far more often in its prime than I use the 3DS now has some real gems and some games I have yet to play. I am going to be putting together a hit list of games to bring it out of retirement, any personal favorites that the community might suggest for that list?

I wasted many hours on the Phoenix Wright series. Definitely not to everybody's taste but I really enjoyed them.

Contra 4 - The best newer game in the series, by far.
Chrono Trigger - A nice update of the SNES classic.
New Super Mario Bros. - A great pick up for a few minutes to play title.
Final Fantasy 12 Revenant Wings - More of a tactical game, if thats your style this is a great pick.
Retro Game Challenge - Goal-based game that uses retro games. There's an English patch for the second game as well, that was only released in Japan.
Mega Man Zero Collection - A compilation of the four Mega Man Zero games. Very hard, even by Mega Man standards, but once you learn its quirks its a wonderful series.
Yoshis Island DS - Similar to NSMB in its pick up and play appeal.
Kirby Super Star Ultra - This has a ton of games on it, and all are solid.
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow - If you liked Symphony of the Night, this one feels like a followup to that game. Also has a great story.

New Super Mario Bros was excellent.
I think Mario Kart DS (snaking aside) is probably the best version though I really like the Wii version too.

    Stuff Scott might particularly like

    New Super Mario Bros
Front Mission DS! (Mech customising and strategy RPG)
Mario Kart DS - Online was compromised by snaking, but there's no online anymore, great singleplayer and local multiplayer#
    Space Invaders Extreme
    Retro Game Challenge

Stuff that I really enjoyed playing on it

    Contra 4
    Animal Crossing
Tetris DS (Although now there's no online, perhaps not)
New International Track & Field (especially if you can arrange local multiplayer)
Finally played Chrono Trigger, that was one of the better JRPG's I've ever played
Dragon Quest IX, again, an actual enjoyable traditional JRPG
    Legend of Zelda Phantom hourglass
Phoenix wright (If you like visual novels)
9 hours 9 persons 9 doors (branching visual novel with room escape puzzles)
Advance Wars Dual Strike (Fairly easy to cheese the C.O. powers, but an enjoyable entry in the series (I didn't like Days of Ruin nearly as much))
Pokemon Heart Gold/Souls Silver - First pokemon i'd played heavily in a very long time, had missed gold/silver so really enjoyed the new island and then revisitng the original island later in the game, seemed to have tonnes of content)
Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars - Surprisingly good, although I often got sidetracked just playing the drugs market for profit
    Picross DS
    Picross 3D
Mario & Luigi Partners in time (not as fun as superstar saga)
Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story (Great writing, some innovative battles)
Elite Beat Agents / Osu Tatake Ouendan (Great lively rhythm game)
Rhythm Heaven (Can be tough with the swipe inputs in some sections, but another fantastic entry in the series)
Metroid Prime Hunters (gave me a real nostalgia ride back to the first quake)
    Planet Puzzle League
    Zoo Keeper
    Sim City DS
    Sonic Colors
    Mega Man Zero Collection
    Aliens Infestation
    Infinite Space
    Mr. Driller
    Red Riding Hoods Zombie BBQ

    DSi Ware
    Boxlife
    Xscape
    Starship Command

I played a ton of animal crossing for ages and the. Never again since.
Phantom Hourglass was great and I have Spirit Tracks queued up.

Random, I can't believe you actually mentioned Red Riding Hoods Zombie BBQ. That's such an obscure game! Not too bad of a game either.

I recently got Dig Dug Digging Strike, and almost picked up Planet Puzzle League.

I'm in the exact same boat as Scott. My 3DS has been collecting dust. Thanks for all the suggestions. I picked up NES Remix just before Christmas, seems fun so far.
