I would have picked Crash 3 to represent the series, but all three of the games are great.

I don't remember which podcast. but someone pointed out that the Crash Bandicoot games were the PS1's version of the Donkey Kong Country games - fast paced platforming. I had never made that comparison before, but they are right.

I missed out on the Oddworld games due to a lack of funding (not a lack of interest). I'll have to play them sometime. The new one was supposed to release on the Wii U, but hasn't yet.

They're great puzzle games mate and very cheap over at gog.com during any sale. . I prefer the ps1 version. I went with Duke Nukem as its the game i got with my ps1 and i went on to enjoy the series. I loved that game and played it to death. I also love crash bandicoot but never played it as much as duke.

Make sure you play Mass Destruction (PlayStation/Saturn). This is by far my new favorite PlayStation game. Hmm no Colony Wars on the list either. That's another game worth playing..one of the reasons I got a PlayStation back in the day. I can't say I agree with this list.

Looks ugly but is a lot of fun blowing shit up in this game. Mass Destruction:

Don't see any of my favorites in the list. I really enjoyed Rally Cross, the Twisted Metal series, and the Gran Turismo series. I remember trading in my barely-used Nintendo 64 for a PS1 at Funcoland due to the PS1 having so many more games for it at the time.

Here is my personal top list for the PS1. I played A LOT of sports games in this era. Spyro does everything that Crash does better, and I believe it was done by the same company. It is almost like a Crash sequel with diff characters. I could never get through MGS, just too much stupid dialog. I would put MGS completely out. Regarding Driver, I never got out of the training missions.

I'm still listening to the podcast, but wasn't Chrono CROSS the one for PS1? Trigger is a SNES game!

    1) Oddworld series
    2) Resident Evil series
    3) Spyro the Dragon series
    4) Tomb Raider series
    5) FIFA series (RTWC '98 is still my fav sports game eva!)
    6) Madden NFL series
    7) Wing Commander series
    8 ) Colony Wars series
    9) Fear Effect series
    10) Syphon Filter series

    Some others:
    Dino Crisis series
    Medieval series
    Herc's Adventures
    Point Blank series
    Time Crisis series
    NCAA Football Gamebreaker series
    Jonah Lomu Rugby

Edit: I looked it up and Crash is Naughty Dog (Jak & Daxter) while Spyro is Insomniac (Ratchet & Clank). Spyro vs Crash was the platform war on PS1, and I pick Spyro.

    Some of my favorites:
    Metal Gear Solid
    Gran Turismo
    Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
Civilization II (missed the PC version, finished it on PS1)
Castlevania SOTN (one of my top games of all time)
Arcade Party Pack (the two analog sticks made smash TV PERFECT, 720 was great, Super Sprint was fantastic)
Medal of Honor (finished this over just a couple days, awesome game)
    Diablo
