Just when you think you know somebody... I think the three of you went the entire top 10 without a single reference to Dolly's cleavage. For you three, that is quite impressive.

With Barb Wire, it is unavoidable.

Scott, (and Mikes)you HAVE to read William Gibsons books, at least the Sprawls series and Burning Chrome. You will enjoy them.
I assume you haven't because none of you contested Scotts claim that the Johnny Mnemonic movie STOLE a lot of ideas from Shadowrun. Maybe the Street preacher, because I do not remember him from the novel.

William Gibson is one of my house-gods, aside of one of the central cyberpunk authors. He coined the word Cyberspace.
His novel "Johnny Mnemonic" was published in 1981, LOONG before Shadowrun made it's apperance.

Shadowrun and Cyberpunk 2020 and "The Matrix" (Trinity is a less badass version of Molly Millions) have taken a lot of inspiration from William Gibsons work (mainly "Neuromancer") not the other way around.

That said, as always the novel is better than the movie.

Regarding the ALS ice bucket challenge, my dad (who has ALS) agrees with you that it is a extremely strange way to help to find a cure.
BUT he also says that one can't deny that it has raised the awareness of ALS and that it has also raised a lot of funds for research by scientists in laboratories.

Regarding the "Trucker thumb challenge", I do not think it will catch on... You know, because truckers are known to be very keen to keep a good hand hygiene. But on the other hand they probably have a lot of sympathy for babies with cancer, so they might have an exception for that. It also does not have a ring to it, I think you should go with "The Boonga Boonga challenge".
