Another World/Out of this World has BEST INTRO EVER. Flashback was pretty close too.

    Honorable Mentions for me:
    Ninja Gaiden 1-2
    Castlevania
    Street Fighter 2
Solstice on NES (Just for the Tim Follin intro)
Time Trax (un-released Megadrive game). Just listen to the intro music....more genius from Tim Follin

Wow, lots of Dreamcast, Playstation, and Gamecube. I'm OK with that, but I feel that you guys knocked out some great intros from the old school.

Lets start with the intro for Mega Man 2.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8Ao63nmzuE

For the NES, this was great. Simple, but so fitting, the basic story being told along with the music that fits PERFECTLY with what is going on onscreen.

Or if you are looking for even more atmosphere, check out the intro for Super Metroid.

Very chilling, especially the bodies on the floor, something pretty dark for a SNES title. I also love how they explain the story of the previous 2 games so you are fully caught up going into the game.

Or how blown away I was by intros done on the Sega CD. This one is special and gets two videos:

    Sonic CD
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxhhbq_WPyI

    Lunar
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1BNr1UVLAo

These show off the capabilities the Sega CD could use to get you in the mood for a game, and these two are great Sega CD games, not just grainy FMV titles. I'll stop here, but I could easily go on. Where's all the old school intros?

Another world is great. But I have to give it to Resident Evil. Remember the first time I saw it I was amazed and frightened. It don't hold up today, but at the time was just amazing.

    I liked Another World too.
I hope Zero Wing got at least a honorable mention because of its infamousy.

I see many Playstation games in the list, so yet again I will show my affection for Metal Gear Solid, that intro was amazing too, although its retro status is arguable.

A agree, Resident evil 1 was stunning when it first arrived on the PS1 in my house, and as much as it was my first pick until i saw the Blood Money intro was up for nomination i had to change my mind based on the fact that Resident evil 1 was as much for me about the video footage of the first zombie we encounter as it was the intro. Blood Money however was just mind blowing for me as a child, i adore the intro today as i did back then, i won't ever forget the Alien and the blazing red planet behind him as well as his ship in space and the deep voice that announces the game 'Blood Money' then the odd music that just came with the times. it all worked so well and captured my imagination that i still play the game to this day and would love a remake on modern systems.

Thanks guys for another brilliant top ten!

Leathco! You nailed. I know I forgot some of those older greats. Here's another FANTASTIC intro:

Snatcher for Sega CD. Everything about it is great. It's in my top 10.

I'm going to throw another laserdisc game into the mix.

When you think you are a tough avenger, switch the difficulty to A, and then try Ultimate Yars!

Resident Evil wins hands down for me, I remember watching it over and over.

MMX3 was one of my favorites, had to re-watch it every time I booted up the game.
