I loved the speech in Ghostbusters on the C64 when failing to trap a ghost, "He slimed me".

Two games I think were missed: Tapper Arcade and Raiders of the Lost Ark for Atari 2600. I voted for SMB, Q*Bert was a strong second though.

I had a mall panic attack when Sonic would be under water and the countdown to having no air would chime up, that five seconds was tormenting for me, i also use to hold my breath whilst i looked fo air bubbles on the floor. ahh, those were the days.

    Go, Froggy, go!

When you think you are a tough avenger, switch the difficulty to A, and then try Ultimate Yars!

No Mortal Kombat! What more iconic defeat sound is there other than "FINISH HIM"

Pac-Man would probably be number one for me.

This is going to be too easy for Pacman as there could be much better picks in that poll too.
I like a mixture of common and uncommon ditty`s and tunes from games, they do not have to be complex or anything.
I would agree with MK but also Berzerk,Rastan,Pengo,Burger Time,Eyes,Dragons Lair possibly MR Do! ,i even some simple cries like Space Harrier and Kung-fu Master which can be heard and recognized across a busy arcade.

I agree with Vipp about Sonic underwater countdown, Id have to say the death chime that played in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Master System always taunted me as a kid.

I remember that vividly, not only does he scream but it always seemed to last as long as it took for space harrier to fall out of the sky. mind you im not sure who would want to live in fantasy island after space harrier cleans it up... its like an acid trip gone bad.
