E3 Nintendo- Zelda: Skyward Sword

Rate this Entry
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be the next installment in Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series. It looks like a decent addition to the series, especially if you liked the game controls in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The big news surrounding Skyward Sword was that it would fully utilize Nintendo's Wii MotionPlus™ technology.

Nintendo's website says,

"The Legend of Zelda™: Skyward Sword marks a turning point for The Legend of Zelda franchise. The introduction of full motion control enabled by the Wii MotionPlus™ accessory synchronizes player movements with Link's actions while offering the most intuitive play control of any game in The Legend of Zelda franchise to date." Nintendo.

During the game demonstration at E3 their were some issues with the motion censors. Most updates since the demo say that the motion censors work better than they did during the demonstration.

"Sword controls were superb, and closer to 1:1 than I expected." Kotaku

The motion technology available in Skyward Sword will build upon everything that Twilight Princess already started build on. The nunchuck now controls the players shield and the motion censor gives the sword better motion then ever before. The player will now be able to control Link with more precision then ever before.

What about all of the other items found in Link's inventory? Most of your favorites will be back again including: the bow, the bomb, the slingshot and more. There will also be some new items such as the whip and something that looks like a boomerang gun that can deliver bombs. All of the items seem to have their original uses as well as new ways of using them.

All in all it looks like another Zelda game. I am not sure if it is going to be anything special. Nintendo is taking a risk putting all of their focus on the Wii MotionPlus. Personally, Zelda is a game better off served with a controller.
