Hardware flashback reply: I loved the recent segment as I just bought a new laptop this week. I went a little newer than what Scott did, but still got a Thinkpad, the X230. It has a third generation Intel i5 clocked at 2.6 ghz, and I did some upgrades to it as well. The 320 GB hard drive got upgraded to a 1 TB, the 4 gigs RAM was upgraded to 16 GB, and a 128 mSATA SSD was added inside, along with an expresscard for more USB 3 ports and a dock that adds 6 USB 2, 1 USB 3, 2 DVI, and 2 Displayports. I run DOSBox for my DOS needs, but this thing I really like. I preferred the keyboard on the X220, and originally ordered an X220, but an X230 was sent by accident and I decided to stick with it. The company gave me my choice of shipping the X230 back for an X220 or just keeping the X230, which is a higher end more expensive model. And while the keyboard is a little worse, I do kinda like the backlighting on the keyboard.
