Man if I had a 3ds I snatch Petit Computer right up. Any other good ways to learn basic?

There's a version of QBasic that runs on SDL http://www.qb64.net/

There's MS visualBasic if you download Visual Studio Express, or even in Excel you can do fun stuff

Most 8bit computer emulators should allow you to use the built in basic

Not sure if it's still a "thing" now, with the rise of the likes of XNA/Unity, but there were projects like DarkBasic too that allowed Basic to be used to interface with DirectX apps

Seconded... Dark basic and QBasic are both very good and theres a tonne of resources out there to help learn them. Outside of that, literally any micro computer emulator will give you a good entry point. Only thing to bear in mind is almost every computer and specific version of basic has a variation of the standard syntax, especially something more specific like Dark Basic which is an extremely enhanced version with custom libraries. Personally I would say that Petite Computer is *not* a good way to learn it, but once you know the basics you'd be able to jump right into this. Grabbing something like QBasic then going to YouTube and searching for tutorials would probably be the easiest entry point.

I had fallen out of love with my 3DS however i had a 15 voucher given to me for xmas and had only bought a few gameboy games. so with the rest of that money i got this program. I would like to make a game but i would much prefer to design the environments. :)

Thanks Focus! I didn't know about Petit Computer or the Tetris clone! Very intriguing.

Maybe you can help me out on a 'future project' :)
